Everything about the selected span, on the right of the Trace Explorer list and the Trace Detail view. This gets Updated when selected spans.

Data source: sampled spans (single‑span fetch).

Sections

  • Status — error badge if failed, latency, and the count of events (e.g. exceptions).
  • General properties — service, operation, Span ID, Trace ID, Parent Span ID, start/end times.
  • Related resources — links to the span’s infrastructure — Kubernetes pod, node, resource — with an action menu to open the Resource, its Alerts, its Logs, or eBPF insights, plus Copy Link.
  • Attributes — the span’s custom key/value attributes from your instrumentation.

Difference between Attributes and events- attributes describe the span and events are timestamped points within it (commonly exceptions).

How to use it

  1. Confirm the error and read the events for the exception type/message.
  2. Use Attributes to capture request parameters, IDs, region, etc.
  3. From Related resources, moves to the pod’s Logs/Alerts; Copy Link to hand off the exact span.
