Introduction

You can perform various actions on resources. These options are displayed based on the type of resource.

Navigation: Follow these steps to navigate to the Actions menu:

  1. To select your client, click the Client/Partner dropdown menu.
    Note: You may either type your client’s name in the search bar or select your client from the list.
  2. Click Infrastructure → Search.
  3. You can either select a resource from the categories or use the search icon to search for resource.
  4. Hover over the resource name or anywhere in the row and click the Open in New Tab icon. The resource details screen is displayed.
  5. Click actions (three dots) menu in the upper-right corner of the screen. A popup is displayed with a list of resource actions.


Resource actions

The following table provides the list of actions along with detailed descriptions or steps to perform them:

ActionDescription/Steps
EditEdit resource details like Resource Type, Alias Name, Description, IP Address, Alternate IP, Serial Number, Purchase Date, Warranty Expiration Date, Keyboard Type, Encoding Type.
Some fields like Host Name, Resource Name, Make, Model, DNS Name, Operating System, Site cannot be modified. These are read-only fields.
Re-SyncThis option will re-discover the resource attributes in the background.
Assign Custom AttributeAllows you to assign custom attribute(s) to the resource.
Follow these steps to assign custom attribute(s):
  1. Click ACTIONS → Assign Custom Attribute.
  2. Select name and corresponding value from the dropdowns.
  3. Click ASSIGN CUSTOM ATTRIBUTE.
Assign CredentialAllows you to assign credential(s) to the resource.
Follow these steps to assign credential(s):
  1. Click ACTIONS → Assign Credential.
  2. Select credential(s) in ASSIGN CREDENTIALS window and click SUBMIT.

UnmanageThis option will unmanage the device. Alerts associated with the device will become "Obsolete" and will be available in alert dashboard for a period of 3 months from current date.
Agents on the device will be uninstalled.
To unmanage the device:
  1. Click ACTIONS → Unmanage.
  2. Click YES.
Add NoteThis option will add a note to the resource.
To add a note:
  1. Click ACTIONS → Add Note.
  2. From the Add Note popup window that shows the selected resource, enter the subject for the note and the description. Set the validity for the note from the calendar.
  3. Click ADD NOTE. The note is assigned and a confirmation message appears.
The NOTES count is updated and displayed.
You can click the NOTES count to add, edit, or remove note(s).
To add a note:
  1. Click +NOTE and follow the steps mentioned above to add a note.
To edit a note:
  1. Click EDIT.
  2. In the EDIT NOTE window, edit the required fields and click SAVE.
    The note is updated and a confirmation message appears.
To remove a note:
  1. Click REMOVE.
Copy IDThis option will copy the Resource UUID to the clipboard.
DeleteThis option will delete the selected resource.
  • After removal, resource must be on-boarded again.
  • Device mapped to Master Agent will not be deleted if there is a management profile assigned to it.
  • Alerts associated with the device will become "Obsolete" and will be available in alert dashboard for a period of 3 months from current date.
  • For resources that have an agent installed, this will remove the agent from the host machine in addition to removing the resource from OpsRamp.
To delete resource:
  1. Click ACTIONS → Delete.
  2. Click YES.
Launch Remote SessionThis option appears only if Agent/Gateway is installed on the resource. It is applicable for Classic Gateway, Windows and Linux devices.
To launch remote session:
  1. Click ACTIONS → Launch Remote Session.
  2. Enter the information in the Launch Remote Session popup window.
  3. Click LAUNCH and execute the file that is downloaded on your local computer.
Add Maintenance WindowThis option allows you to schedule maintenance window on a resource.
To schedule a maintenance window:
  1. Click ACTIONS → Add Maintenance Window.
    The Add Maintenance Window popup dialog box is displayed.

View Network PerformanceThis option allows you to view network performance for the resource selected.
To view resource network performance:
  1. Click ACTIONS → View Network Performance.
    The Network Performance Management screen is displayed with top conversations and other information.

View TopologyThis option allows you to view topology map for the resource selected.
To view topology map:
  1. Click ACTIONS → View Topology. The Topology Explorer is displayed with the resource and its connected nodes.

View Network TopologyThis option allows you to view network topology for the device selected.
To view network topology:
  1. Click ACTIONS → View Network Topology. The Network Topology Explorer is displayed with the network device and its neighboring devices.

View Rule LogsView rule logs from all policies applicable on the device, including Device groups, Service groups, Sites/Locations, Custom attributes, Credentials, Jobs, KB articles, Availability Rule, and Monitoring Templates.
To view rule logs:
  1. Click ACTIONS → View Rule Logs.
    The LOGS screen is displayed.

The LOGS screen displays logs information like Log generated time, status of the Log, resource name, and message.
To view Log Details:
  1. Click anywhere in the row to view the LOG DETAILS slide-out.
    The slide-out contains details including Resource Name, Policy Name, Template Name, Resource UUID, Filter Criteria.
    It also displays information related to attributes like FilterCriteria, Values, isSuccess, resourceName, resourceUuid.
You can filter logs based on their status: Success, Failed, and Info.
  1. Click the filter dropdown and select the desired status to view the logs.
You can filter logs for a specific time period.
  1. Click the calendar icon and select the time range.
  2. Click APPLY. The logs are filtered and displayed.
View Matched RulesLists all the matching policies or rules applied to a device. These policies include Device groups, Service groups, Sites/Locations, Custom attributes, Credentials, Jobs, KB articles, Availability Rule, and Monitoring Templates.
To view matched rules:
  1. Click ACTIONS → View Matched Rules.
    The MATCHED RULES screen is displayed.

The MATCHED RULES screen displays information like Rule name, Unique Id.
To view Rule details:
  1. Click anywhere in the row to view the RULE DETAILS slide-out.
    The slide-out contains details including Resource Name, Rule Name, Resource UUID, Global Rule, Client Matching Type, Rules Matching Type, Rule Conditions, Search Conditions, and Actions.
