Overview

HPE VM Essentials is a virtualization management solution from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) that simplifies the provisioning, monitoring, and automation of virtual machines (VMs) across different hypervisor environments.

It provides a unified interface to manage:

  • KVM-based hypervisors supported by HPE VM Essentials
  • VMware vSphere environments

This centralized management approach streamlines operations across diverse virtual infrastructure components.

Use Cases

Discovery

  • Discovers all HPE VM Essentials components
  • Publishes relationships between resources to enable a topological view and simplify maintenance
  • Refer to the Hierarchy of HPE VM Essentials Resource for detailed structure

Monitoring

  • Provides metrics related to availability status, capacity, performance and usage.
  • Generates alerts when metric thresholds are breached to notify administrators of potential issues.

Supported Target Versions

This integration has been validated on a HPE VME single-instance setup with build version 8.0.4

Roles and Permissions

As HPE VME appliance can support multi-tenanted approach, based on the customer environment system level, tenant level user with custom role and read only permissions can be created for monitoring the HPE VME environment.

Hierarchy of HPE VM Essentials resource

The application can discover the following HPE VM Essentials related resources.

  • HPE VM Essentials Manager
    • HPE VM Essentials Cloud
      • HPE VM Essentials Cluster
        • HPE VM Essentials Host
