Introduction
VMware NSX‑V is a software-defined networking (SDN) solution designed specifically for integration with the VMware vSphere ecosystem. The deployment of NSX‑V requires core VMware vSphere components, including a vCenter Server and ESXi hosts. This product depends on VMware vSphere and connection with vCenter. Once NSX-V pairs with vCenter, the integration with vSphere is seamless.

Key Use Cases
Discovery Use Cases
- Discovers all the high-level components such as NSX-V Manager, NSX-V Controller, NSX-V Transport Zone, and NSX-V Edge.
- Publishes relationships between resources to provide a topological view.
- For detailed structure, see the Resource Hierarchy section.
Monitoring Use Cases
- Provides monitoring related to availability and usage.
- Alerts are generated when defined metric thresholds are breached, notifying users of potential issues.
