Introdution
Cohesity Backup appliance provides the only hyper-converged platform that eliminates the complexity of traditional data protection solutions by unifying your end-to-end data protection infrastructure – including target storage, backup, replication, disaster recovery, and cloud tiering. Cohesity DataPlatform provides scale-out, globally deduped, highly available storage to consolidate all your secondary data, including backups, files, and test / dev copies. The key benefits of Cohesity Backup appliance are listed below:
- Simplify data protection with integrated backup and recovery running directly on the Cohesity DataPlatform.
- Instantly search-and-recover data with the Cohesity indexing engine.
- Scale data protection across the enterprise with Cohesity’s web-scale DataPlatform architecture.
In IT infrastructures providing mission-critical services to end-users, an efficient backup and restore mechanism is necessary for ensuring that critical servers that are involved in the delivery of a service do not suffer any data loss. If there is any hardware problem or a space issue or a memory bottleneck on the Cohesity Backup appliance, it will affect the backup service and restoration of data will be delayed. This in turn could have a disastrous effect on the service delivery. If such an outcome is to be prevented, the target Cohesity Backup server needs to be closely monitored

Key Use cases
Discovery Use cases
- It discovers the Cohesity components as per the resource structure. For detailed strcuture, see Resource Hierarchy.
- Publishes relationships between resources to have a topological view and ease of maintenance.
Monitoring Use cases
- Provides metrics related to job scheduling time and status etc.
- Concern alerts will be generated for each metric to notify the administrator regarding the issue with the resource

Version History
| Application Version | Bug fixes / Enhancements |
|---|---|
| 4.0.3 | Certified app with 7.4_release-20260326_e7bbc9e1 version. |
| 4.1.0 | This implementation introduces third-party CI alert mapping and OpsQL-based enhancements.Configure alert mappings to target CI systems through the application configuration. After configuration, the system automatically forwards alerts to the corresponding third-party platforms and maps them to the specified CIs, ensuring consistent integration and efficient alert management.Previously, resource filters in the app configuration required manual entry of resource core and custom attributes. With this enhancement, the configuration is moved to OpsQL-based filtering, where users can see the keys auto-populated as needed. |
| 4.0.3 | Added metering functionality to enable granular usage tracking. This patch is optional for customers who use the platform only for monitoring, since it does not change core monitoring logic. |
| 4.0.2 | Added support for all environment types in protection jobs. |
| 4.0.1 | Added logging enhancements and certifying for 7.3 version. |
| 4.0.0 | Adding new metirc cohesity_protectionjob_archival_status. |
| 3.0.1 | Fix for cohesity protection job replication status. |
| 3.0.0 | Added support for V2 APIs. |
| 2.0.4 | Support has been added to display the kWarning error message whenever the backup status metric reports a value of kWarning. |
| 2.0.3 | Removed the change related to Metric Value decimal precisions. |
| 2.0.2 | Updated the discovery API to return the list of interfaces with cache=false to ensure fresh data is retrieved during each discovery cycle. |
| 2.0.1 | Added support for the latest metrics, Activity Logger updates, and DebugHandler changes. |
| 2.0.0 |
