Approving Patches

Describes the steps to approve a patch.

Introduction

OpsRamp provides you the liberty to approve the patches for any device. You can approve patches after listing the missing patches.

Approve patches using one of the following options:

  • By Patch
  • By Device
  • Bulk Patch Approvals

Approving by patch

The By Patch option enables you to view and approve missing patches for the devices.

To approve the list of missing patches for the devices:

  1. From All Clients, select a client.
  2. Go to Automation > Patch Management > Missing Patches.
  3. From the list of missing patches, click By Patch (By default).
  4. After selecting By Patch, select one of the following operating systems:
    • Windows
    • Linux
  5. From the Missing patch numbers, click the numeric value to view the devices that require patch management.
    Device Lists of Security Update screen appears.
  6. From Device Lists of Security Update, select the device (s) that requires Patch Approval.
  7. Click Approve.
    The screen displays a confirmation message.

To approve the missing patches from devices:

  1. From All Clients, select a client.
  2. Go to Automation > Patch Management > Missing Patches.
  3. Click By Device.
  4. Click the missing patch numbers to view the patches recommended for the selected device.
  5. Select the required patches and click Approve.
    The screen displays a confirmation message.

Approving by bulk patch approval

The bulk patch approval is the best method if you are approving patches manually.

To approve patches in bulk:

  1. From All Clients, select a client.
  2. Go to Automation > Patch Management > Patch Approvals.
  3. From Patch Approvals, navigate to the Select Clients and Devices section.
  4. From Select Clients and Devices, provide the following parameters:
    • Clients missing patches.
    • Device Types.
    • Devices missing patches.
  5. After selecting Clients and Devices, navigate to the Select Patches section.
  6. From Select Patches, select the patch categories.
    A list of unapproved patches appears.
  7. Select the desired patches.
  8. Click Submit.
    The screen displays a confirmation message, review the submitted details.
  9. Click Yes to continue.
    Review and Confirm screen appears.
  10. From Review and Confirm, review the submitted details.
  11. Click Confirm.
