AWS App Mesh is a service mesh that provides application-level networking to make it easy for your services to communicate with each other across multiple types of compute infrastructure.

Resource Information:

  • Type of Resource: Generic non-monitorable resource
  • Discovery type: AWS SDK discovery type
  • Discovery profile selection: Resource can be discovered by “App Mesh” in the profiler
  • ResourceTag: AWS_APP_MESH
  • Resource Unique Identification: APPMeshArn (mesh.metadata().arn())
  • Dependencies: App Mesh may depend on ECS services, EKS clusters, and EC2 instances for service mesh functionality

Use the AWS public cloud integration to discover and collect metrics against the AWS service.

Supported metrics

Currently, App Mesh resources are non-monitorable and do not provide direct CloudWatch metrics. Monitoring is typically done through the underlying compute infrastructure (ECS, EKS, EC2) where the mesh components are running.
