Risks
- Shared access: Because the integration stores one shared credential, every OpsPilot user who can use the integration can retrieve whatever that account can see. Use an account with the minimum required permissions.
- External data exposure: Information retrieved from the external system is returned in OpsPilot responses. Confirm the data is appropriate for all users of the integration.
Limitations
- OpsPilot can use only the tools that the MCP server exposes. It cannot retrieve data that the server or the configured account does not provide.
- The integration does not connect each OpsPilot user with a personal external account.
- Data from the external system is not imported into OpsRamp.
- Only the Jira + Confluence flow was tested, using hosted Atlassian MCP. The Splunk, ServiceNow, Prometheus, and Grafana use cases are illustrative and not verified live connections.
Assumptions
- You have an MCP server, supplied by its provider, that is reachable from OpsRamp. A standard Jira, Splunk, or GitHub REST API URL is not an MCP server URL.
- The MCP server uses HTTPS if it is hosted, and its exact path is confirmed with the provider.
- The configured credentials are valid and match the authentication type that the MCP server requires.
- You have access to the integration at the Service Provider, Partner, or Client scope.
