The MCP Server integration extends OpsPilot beyond OpsRamp data. By connecting an external MCP server (Model Context Protocol server), OpsPilot can retrieve information from other systems, such as tickets, runbooks, logs, metrics, and dashboards, while it investigates your alerts and resources.
How it works
- Add the MCP server and its credentials in OpsRamp Integrations.
- Ask OpsPilot a question in everyday language.
- OpsPilot automatically discovers the server’s available tools and uses the ones relevant to your request. You do not need to define individual tools.
Important considerations
- Access is limited by the external account OpsPilot can retrieve only what the configured account is allowed to see.
- Credentials are shared The integration stores one shared credential. It does not connect each OpsPilot user with their own external account.
- No data import Connecting a server does not import its data into OpsRamp.
Use cases
| System | Example question in OpsPilot | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Jira + Confluence | For Jira issue #123, summarize the issue and find a relevant Confluence runbook. | Bring issue context and troubleshooting guidance together for an OpsRamp investigation. |
| Splunk + OpsRamp | For the alert on web-prod-01 at 14:05, check Splunk errors near that time and summarize likely causes. | Correlate OpsRamp alerts with external log evidence. |
| ServiceNow + OpsRamp | Find the ServiceNow incident for this OpsRamp alert and summarize its owner and latest updates. | Connect an OpsRamp alert to the external incident workflow. |
| Prometheus + OpsRamp | For the host in this OpsRamp alert, compare its CPU metrics in Prometheus around the alert time. | Add external time-series evidence to an alert investigation. |
| Grafana + OpsRamp | Find the Grafana dashboard for the affected service and summarize what its panels show. | Provide dashboard context alongside OpsRamp alert details. |
The Jira + Confluence flow was tested with hosted Atlassian MCP. Splunk, ServiceNow, Prometheus, and Grafana are illustrative use cases, not verified live connections. Each requires a compatible MCP server registered in your environment with the appropriate access.
Note: This integration is available at the Service Provider, Partner, and Client scopes.
